Logitech Comfort Lapdesk
Ever since I started using a laptop I considered that these products are not worthy of their name, at least some of them. I’m saying this because I’ve worked on a lot of notebooks that got so hot that I simply couldn’t hold them for more than half an hour on my lap. While with other notebooks I managed to do my work, these still had the tendency to get hot and created an uncomfortable working environment that reduced my efficiency. I don’t know if this is a general problem or I’m not very good in picking my notebooks.
Last year I started looking for ways in which I could still continue my work while holding the notebook in my lap and after having a look at several models that appeared to be interesting, I ran into a product called the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk which I eventually decide to buy. I was drawn to this item because I loved how it looked and it eliminates the necessity of buying a laptop table which can be a nightmare to transport especially if you do a lot of travelling. Even those folding laptop tables can be uncomfortable to use if you spend a lot of your time in a hotel room. This worked for me but it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is suitable for all laptop users. Here are a few factors that you should take into consideration if you have decided to buy a lap desk for laptop.
Design
The design is probably the most important aspect of such a product and since there are so many variations, it can be a little bit overwhelming to choose the right one. My advice is to get one which has a comfortable texture and it is as compact as possible. You wouldn’t want to carry around a bulky lap desk from room to room. The reason why I chose the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk is because it was advertised as featuring a heat-shielding design which is able to protect the body from the heat that is generated by the laptop. It actually does that and even after three hours of working with the notebook in my laptop I don’t feel any heat coming from it at all. It manages to keep it away thanks to its four-layer design which doesn’t make it bulky at all as its dimensions are of only 17.2 x 13 x 3.2 inches while the curb weight is of a mere 2.3 pounds. This allows me to use it in bed, on the sofa or even on the floor, without having to compromise its stability. I also enjoyed that it features a soft, air-mesh fabric that feels comfortable on the legs.
Angle
One of the reasons why people choose to buy a laptop lap desk is because without one the user has to slouch over so that it can work and in most cases this causes pain and strain on the back, neck and shoulders. The one I bought from Amazon has a 12-degree angled raiser that improves leg and neck comfort a great deal if you use it in a seated position. Without one of these lapdesks, the person behind the notebook has to lock his knees together in order to create a base for the laptop, thus putting undue stress on the lags and lap. In addition, this uncomfortable position also forces the user into an awkward viewing angle, which places extra strain on the head and on the neck. By purchasing a lapdesk, this will give you a base for the laptop which will tremendously increase leg comfort while at the same time offering you considerably more freedom of movement. That angled raiser I’ve mentioned is available on several other models as well and it can elevate the display of the laptop to allow a comfortable viewing height.
Types
As I’ve said before, there is an extensive array of laptop lap desks you can choose from, depending on what you want and the available budget. Some of these models come with rubber feet so that they won’t slip while you are working whereas others have their entire underside made from a non-slip material. These are highly recommended for those that work in many different areas as it adds the necessary additional stability. The most affordable ones that you will find are made from plastic, but if you plan on using your laptop on a desk, it is advisable to get one made from wood as it will blend it more naturally with the environment. There are also lots of models that benefit from an aluminum construction and although they look expensive, most of them are moderately priced.

Well, it depends on what you are searching for in a laptop lap desk. The one that met my requirements, the Logitech Comfort Lapdesk, has a retail price of $34.99 if you buy it now. Feedback
I didn’t place an order before reading some of the reviews that Lapdesk got and after reading a couple of them I realized that it is just as good as they advertize it. Customers loved how comfortable it feels on the lap and the fact that its underside is made from an airy mesh which never warms up.
It Can’t Be Perfect. Or Is It?
There were some negative reviews as well for this product. A customer complained that the surface is too slick and the laptop will fall off if you don’t sit with your legs at a 90-degree angle. To be honest, mine never slipped away regardless of my position. Maybe it’s because of the laptop that he has because I’ve tried on my Lapdesk five notebooks and they remained stable at all times.

As I’ve said, you can get it from Amazon where it probably has the lowest price you can find. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t look for it elsewhere. Who knows, you might end up getting a better deal.
